DEED Update from Steve Grove/ Commissioner

Good evening business leaders,  

Throughout this pandemic, you’ve been thoughtful and generous leaders who’ve given of your time to advise our department as we’ve worked to manage the economic challenges of COVID-19.

As you may know, the Governor announced his Minnesota COVID-19 Recovery Budget today, and I wanted to be sure you had the summary of our latest plans to accelerate the growth of our state’s economy in the coming two years.

By focusing on small businesses and workforce development, our goal is to help build an economy that works for everyone – regardless of your background or where in Minnesota you live. By continuing to focus on businesses hardest hit by COVID-19, while also looking ahead to the things we need to do to build the next chapter of our economy, we’re excited to work with all of you on strengthening our state. 

While it’s been a difficult year, we think Minnesota is well-positioned to come out of this pandemic stronger than we went in. It’ll take business and government working together. We’re looking forward to the journey together with all of you. 

We’ll discuss these budget proposals in more detail in our upcoming Thursday business call, but for now, I wanted to be sure you had the key points.
