Volunteer with the MBA

The MBA offers lots of opportunities to get involved with the Moorhead community.  See the list below for some examples of what you can help out with.  Contact Sheri Larson for inquiries or more information.

  • Work the New American Job Fair

The goal of the New American Job Fair is to connect qualified New Americans with good employment opportunities.  It takes place twice a year at the Moorhead Center Mall.  Opportunities to help out include running the registration table, assisting New Americans with their employment applications, and helping to recruit companies to be employers.

  • Help staff the MBA aid station at the Fargo Marathon

If you can hold out a cup of water or Powerade while cheering loudly, then you can help out at this event!  The Fargo Marathon is one of the most prominent events of the year in the FM Area.  The MBA has a water station right as the race crosses the river from Fargo into Moorhead.  This is a great opportunity to show your enthusiasm and Moorhead Pride and to welcome hundreds of visitors into our community.

  • Join the Golf Tournament task force

The MBA Golf Tournament is a great annual fundraiser that the MBA puts on  to raise money for the 5656Oohs and Aahs Fourth of July Fireworks Display.  Our planning committee decides on the prizes, the swag, the mini-games, the menu, and more!  It all culminates in a day full of fun, raising cash for a good cause.

  • Join the 4th of July task force

There are a number of ways to help out with the 5656Ooh and Aah Fourth of July Fireworks Display, from parking and security to planning and volunteer coordination.  Visit the event page for more information.
  • Help with Parking at the 4th of July Celebration

  • Work Security at the 4th of July

  • Help with clean up after the fireworks

  • Join the Bridge Bash committee

Help us welcome students back to the area at the start of the new school year with the highly anticipated Bridge Bash!  This multi-faceted outdoor community event features live music, food trucks, vendors, and more, all on the deck of the First Avenue Bridge near the Hjemkomst Center.  Maybe your company would like to engage with students by having a booth at the event with some fun games?  Maybe you're looking for the chance to volunteer for a fun outdoor event where you can interact with all sorts of people from the community?  Maybe you're just looking for an opportunity to be an active part of a fun, end-of-Summer party?  We need lots of volunteers for this big day, from setup to security to clean up at the end of the night.  Visit the event page for more information.

  • Bridge Bash security

  • Help with registration at the Annual Meeting

The MBA Annual Meeting in April is our chance to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of the MBA throughout the year, as well as to recognize our current board members and elect new ones.  It's a classy night of music, good food, and celebratory spirit.  This is a ticketed event and registration needs a few hands to help check people in and get set up.

  • Introduce the speaker at Let’s Talk Business

Every Wednesday morning at the Moorhead Fryn' Pan we have our Let's Talk Business breakfast event, which features a new guest speaker every week!  You can volunteer to give some announcements and introduce the guest speaker.  This is a great opportunity to pitch an event or a cause of your own that you'd like our members to know about.

  • Join the membership task force

We are always looking to grow the ranks of the MBA, and we do so primarily through our Membership Task Force, which develops recruitment materials and identifies businesses in town which could be approached for membership.  If you're well connected or would like to meet some more people and get some more hands-on involvement with the MBA, this would be an ideal committee for you to join.
  • Thank current MBA members

  • Help recruit new members

  • Join the communications committee

The MBA does lots of communications, from our weekly emails to social media posts on Facebook to print advertising and event promotion, keeping the Communications Committee pretty busy all the time!  If you have an interest in marketing, branding and communications, or if you're simply looking for further opportunities to get involved with the MBA, help spread the word around town by joining this dynamic group.

  • Host a 560 Connect event at your business

Looking for your business to get a little extra exposure to the MBA?  Trying to get a few people in the door of a new site?  Consider hosting a 560 Connect event at your business.  560 Connect is an informal networking event hosted at various locations around Moorhead.  This mixer-style occasion provides attendees with an opportunity to share a beverage or snack and discuss what's going on in Moorhead these days.
